Kind Hearts for Kids
2023 Impact Report
Another year raising awareness, and bringing joy and kindness to kids in foster and kinship care
This past year we were able to move to a larger and more welcoming space - the Kind Nest. We also offered new services that proved to be wildly popular, including Christmas gifts tailored to teens, and hair styling donated by Keniqua Smith. These events, and our tremendous team of volunteers have helped us reach more kids in the community than ever before. We are extremely grateful to everyone that supports us, and to the families that let us be a part of their children's special day!

From our families to yours, THANK YOU for a wonderful 2023.

Executive Director

Kathy Raymond,
Board President
Mission:
We offer kindness and compassion to children and teenagers in foster kinship, and grandparent care, inspring them to have courage and dreams for their future.
Celebrating Five-Years:
The end of 2023 marked five-years of Kind Hearts for Kids. We began as an idea discussed across a kitchen table amoung good friends. We grew driven by passion to bring joy and celebrations to kids in foster care and kinship care. Our community of volunteers grew. The population we server grew. And most importantly, our capacity and capability to celebrate kids grew. Today we are proud to be able to host birthday parties, provide birthday gifts (including themed party supplies and a gift), and host office hours so foster parents, grandparent caretakers, and kinship caretakers, can stop by the Kind Next to build tailored birthday bags for the kids in their care.

Our outreach strategy
We love to partner with other organizations in the community. Sometimes we partner in support of our mission, like when we distribute information about the Cape Cod Foster Closet through our social media channels. Sometimes we partner to help raise awareness about the support that Kind Hearts for Kids can provide, like when we reach out to libraries and school administrators.

Other efforts we undertook to make the community aware of our services included:
-
The Kindness Festival. With 39 vendors, this was our biggest event yet. As well as providing a fun day out for the families of Cape Cod, we raised $8,000 and highlighted the work of Kind Hearts for Kids.
-
Bourne Sandwich Rotary. Speaking at organization events to build stronger ties to the local business and philanthropic community.
-
Sandwich Public Library. Ensuring information about Kind Hearts for Kids is prominently displayed to support our continued outreach to kids and families that could benefit from our services.
-
Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce. As a member of the local Chamber we have received support to publicize our efforts and build connections to those that can help our mission.

The Hearts behind Kind Hearts
Congratulations to our 2023 Volunteer of the Year - Tammy McDevitt!

Tammy has been an integral part of our team for over two years, and consistently goes above and beyond in her commitment to our organization. Not only does Tammy coordinate and nurture our volunteer community, she also helps manage inventory, staffs office hours, and most recently led the charge to decorate for the holidays.

Tammy's smile, positive attitude and ability to maintain a cheerfull demeanor, even in the face of unexpected obstacles, make a positive difference every day to our organization and those who server. We are truly fortunate to have her as part of our community!

Thank you, Tammy, for the remarkable impact you've made.
